FAQ
These FAQs are designed to cover common questions that potential future families may have when considering adopting a Maine Coon Kitten. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you have any additional questions or need more information.
Our adoption process starts with a Kitten Application Form. It allows us to pre-screen potential families prior scheduling a video call with us. Depending on submitted results, we’ll get back to you within 1-3 business days.
Zencatz Maine Coon kittens are priced between $2,500 and $3,500. The final price is based on factors such as gender, coat color, polydactyl/non-polydactyl.
Zencatz MCO is a TICA registered cattery. All our cats and kittens are registered as well.
We are operating as a closed cattery. Due to our protocols and safety concerns we make no exceptions. While we understand the desire to get to know your future family member, health and safety is our priority. We’d be more than happy to meet you over a video call!
We do not offer breeding rights at the moment. There are no exceptions. We appreciate the interest.
If you live outside Canada and would love to adopt one of our kittens – we ship only to US. To find out about the options please contact us.
We do not have a waiting list and don’t plan on adding one. We believe in personal approach when it comes to adopting. Having a spot on waiting list would not guarantee application approval – because we believe that adding any pet into your family is MORE than just “adoption”. It’s a commitment, emotionally and financially.
When time comes to rehome our precious Senseis it’s always mixed feelings. Sadness and happiness at the same time. We truly appreciate our Queens and Kings, as they are the monolith of our cattery and our biggest pride. But we also understand that there is a pair of hands that can’t wait to endlessly pet the silkiest fur, there is a huge heart, impatient to pour all that love and affection on one of our retirees. Also, every breeder knows, it’s difficult to fully commit to each cat when you have dozen of cat chores daily. None of our female/male cats are kept in Breeding Program more than 3 years.
Please note, we are very selective when it comes to homes of our retired cats. Video call is required. Even though Maine Coons are known to be easy going and very friendly, each of them is unique and requires personal approach. That being said, whether you can adopt one of our retired cats or not will depend on the pre-screening results and if we decide it’s a good fit.
Every family who adopts a kitten from us signs a contract as a pre-final stage of our adoption process. It is REQUIRED to spay/neuter your kitten as none of our kittens are sold or ever be sold with breeding rights.
All kittens must be neutered/spayed NOT EARLIER than 6 months.
Recommended window: 6-10 months.
We know there is a lot of controversy when it comes to the right time of spay/neuter. We do not practice ESN. But we also want to note, that there is no proof that your Maine Coon is going to grow bigger if not to neuter by 1-2 years. It’s nothing more than a stereotype.
Unless you plan on breeding – there is no need to keep your Maine Coon unaltered that long. We advise families to be transparent when discussing this topic. There are no exceptions “I want my cat to have a kitten” – is automatically a breach of our Contract.
Depending on amount of pets you currently have at your residence, their temper, neuter/spay status and your schedule, we’ll decide whether it’s a good idea to let you adopt our kitten/kittens. Petlovers are welcome, but owning a pet requires more than love.
We do not require families to feed a raw diet. We recommend and that’s all we can do. After the pick up, it becomes your responsibility to pick the best diet for your Maine Coon Kitten. It doesn’t mean we don’t care, but at the same time we can’t dictate what to feed your kitten. It’s a choice of every family to follow our advice or not.
***Note***
When bringing one of our kittens home, every family gets our homemade raw mix + wet/dry food. It’s necessary to make a smooth transition in order to avoid GI issues and stress. We expect families to take it slow first week and let kitten adjust at his/her own pace. On our side, we provide with all needed supplies and 24/7 support.
No, we do not guarantee the size. First of all, a healthy and REALISTIC weight for a female Maine Coon is 10-18 lbs; male Maine Coons 15-25 lbs. We do not breed for size. Our priority is health, temper and type of our Maine Coons.
