FAQ

These FAQs are designed to cover common questions that potential future families may have when considering adopting a Maine Coon Kitten. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you have any additional questions or need more information.

Where are you located?

We are located in Vienna, Ontario. We hand deliver our kittens and meet halfway depending on location. We regularly meet with families across Ontario, including the Toronto, Hamilton, and Brantford areas, and can also arrange safe delivery across Canada.

Do you health test your breeding cats?

Yes. Our breeding cats are DNA tested through Optimal Selection for inherited conditions including HCM, SMA, PKDef, blood type, and other genetic markers such as MDR1.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Yes. All of our kittens come with a 2-year genetic health guarantee. Each kitten also receives age-appropriate veterinary care and a health certificate before going to their new home.

Is your cattery registered?

Zencatz MCO is a TICA registered cattery. All our cats and kittens are registered as well.

How to adopt a Maine Coon kitten?

Our adoption process starts with a Kitten Application Form. It allows us to pre-screen potential families prior scheduling a video call with us. Depending on submitted results, we’ll get back to you within 1-3 business days.

Can I visit your cattery to meet the kittens?

We are operating as a closed cattery. Due to our protocols and safety concerns we make no exceptions. While we understand the desire to get to know your  future family member, health and safety is our priority. We’d be more than happy to meet you over a video call!

Do you offer breeding rights?

We do not offer breeding rights at the moment. There are no exceptions. We appreciate the interest.

Do you ship outside Canada?

If you live outside Canada and would love to adopt one of our kittens – we ship only to US.  To find out about the options please contact us at zencatz.mco@gmail.com

Do you have a waiting list?

We do not have a waiting list and don’t plan on adding one. We believe in personal approach when it comes to adopting. Having a spot on waiting list would not guarantee application approval – because we believe that adding any pet into your family is MORE than just “adoption”. It’s a commitment, emotionally and financially.

I already have a pet ( or more) - will this be an issue?

Depending on amount of pets you currently have at your residence, their temper, neuter/spay status and your schedule, we’ll decide whether it’s a good idea to let you adopt our kitten/kittens. Petlovers are welcome, but owning a pet requires more than love.

I don't want (or can't) feed my kitten raw diet

We do not require families to feed a raw diet. We recommend and that’s all we can do. After the pick up, it becomes your responsibility to pick the best diet for your Maine Coon Kitten. It doesn’t mean we don’t care, but at the same time we can’t dictate what to feed your kitten. It’s a choice of every family to follow our advice or not.

***Note***

When bringing one of our kittens home, every family gets our homemade raw mix + wet/dry food. It’s necessary to make a smooth transition in order to avoid GI issues and stress. We expect families to take it slow first week and let kitten adjust at his/her own pace. On our side, we provide with all needed supplies and 24/7 support.
